Your Midwives

Kristin Schuchmann, CPM, LM

Kristin, a second-generation midwife and graduate of Commonsense Childbirth School of Midwifery, began serving expectant families in 1989 as a childbirth educator, doula, and lactation counselor in Virginia Beach, VA, where she served hundreds of families. During that time, she received some midwifery training and education and worked for ten years with a dedicated group of citizens to help successfully legalize direct-entry midwifery in Virginia. After moving to Florida in 2007, she decided to complete all the requirements to become a Florida Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife.  Kristin is also fulfilling a dream to increase the number of practicing midwives and improve maternity care and birth outcomes locally and around the world as the founder and executive director of Heritage School of Midwifery, a FL licensed midwifery school, and  Charis Childbirth, an international school for midwives, childbirth educators, doulas, and lactation counselors.  Kristin and her husband Todd, homeschooling veterans, have four adult children and an ever-growing number of grandchildren.  Her first baby was born in the hospital in 1987, the last three were all born safely and peacefully at home with midwives (two born in the water).  When Kristin is not teaching or “midwifing”, she enjoys traveling, singing, playing piano, preparing nutritious and delicious gourmet meals, being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, sitting on the beach soaking up the sunshine, and spending time with her family.

Rose Trombley, LM

Rose, a third-generation midwife and graduate of Heritage School of Midwifery, has been attending births literally her entire life, but started officially serving expectant families as a birth assistant in 2012.  Since then, hundreds of families have been blessed by her tireless support and love as they welcomed new life.  Rose’s voracious appetite for learning keeps her constantly engaged in continuing education and she is currently working her way toward her master’s degree in midwifery.  Even with all she does in the childbirth arena, Rose is dedicated to full-time motherhood as she raises and homeschools her children—all born in the peace and safety of home.  When Rose is not sitting next to you, encouraging you as you labor and birth your baby, you will find her enjoying nature, climbing trees, singing, playing guitar, reading, studying, and having great adventures with her husband and children.
